I was really disappointed to see the piece on PETA on the home page. I hope this site doesn't support their agenda.  If PETA gets their way, we won't be able to breed dogs and have pets in the future.  Their agenda is very scary to anyone that truly loves sharing their life with animals.

I'm all for animal welfare.   I believe that animals should be loved and protected.  I also believe that people should be able to enjoy dog shows and performance events with their dogs.  I really hope this site isn't going they way of the animal rights activists.  It would break my heart.

I joined this site because I thought it was a place for people to celebrate the human/animal bond and the joy of sharing your life with a dog.  I hope it remains that way.

Neil replied: It's just the author's viewpoint, not ours. This site only has one agenda and that is, as you rightly point out, to celebrate the human animal bond and the true love and friendship that dogs give us.

Schipmom replied: Glad to hear that Neil, I was really hoping the site wasn't going to be a venue for the animal rights folks. It's a very complex issue and I think of this site as a place for enjoyment, not politics.

Yes Lisa, it was a case of "We've done our bit, here's what the law says and it's local authorities' problem now."

As you rightly point out, no mention of ensuring the law actually gets enforced.

I've blogged the full No. 10 response to the petition for those who haven't seen it.

Hi Neil ,
new showcase format is good, anything which makes things eaiser is great..!!
Did you get number 10 newsletter in email, replying to petition on puppy farming... I recieved one this morn..  It just seems to quote existing laws, (which obvisouly a'rnt working against puppy farms/mills)  No mention in the article of any move on developing  new, more strict laws, with severe fines and sentenses...

All the best for now....
