Did anyone else see the news clip on the Sky news website about the pit bull terrier attacking a chocolate lab guide dog? I actually broke down in tears in work after looking at it (shouldnt have clicked the link in hindsight).
Absolutely shocking piece of video. The poor lab was ok after it, so it said, maybe physically he was, certainly not mentally!
Anyway, Im not writing this to go on about bull terriers, simply about their owners. Im sure that a properly trained bull terrier in the correct hands is the perfect dog, however, the 'owner' of this bull terrier obviously hadnt the first clue about how to handle that animal. The way he tried to get the terrier to release the other dog was just dreadful - the complete opposite of what he should have done. Perhaps there should be some kind of requirement that if you want to have a dog like this as a pet you should be forced to learn how to handle the dog correctly? Just a thought.
The poor blind lady with the guide dog must have been absolutely terrified - and to make matters worse the 'individual' with the terrier didnt even see if she was ok. Some people shouldnt have dogs, especially not dogs like the bull terrier.
