I am a Canine Behaviourist in Northern Ireland. It was my first dog that really got me started learning about dog behaviour and psychology. At first I just wanted to know a little more so that I could understand her better but I very quickly became addicted to the subject and found myself taking more courses and reading more and more books. My friends started asking me to help them with their dogs, and then their friends and it just snow balled from there. I love my job and can't see myself doing anything else.

I have finally finished writing my first book, its called 'How to be the Perfect Pack Leader' and you can get it at www.gooddoggie.co.uk/books.htm. Its a step by step guide to being the Pack Leader your dog always dreamed of, I hope you like it.

My whole life revolves around animals whether it be my own (dogs, cats or reptiles) or wildlife and conservation, my favourite people on TV are Craig Busch (the lion man), Cesar Millan (the dog whisperer) and Shaun Ellis (the wolf man from Devon), I have an awesome respect for the work they do and hope someday that I might earn a similar respect that they do as animal behaviour experts.

I have two dogs; Molly who is a Bernese Mountain Dog. I had her from a puppy but she is starting to show her age now and I fear we may lose her soon, I will miss her loads. I also have Sampson, he is a LabxGreat Dane, he is only two and is loads of fun although he does torture Molly sometimes. Sampson is a great dog and I often take him with me to help train dog aggressive dogs as he so patient with them. Sampson loves his walks - especially if I take a ball with me!

Hi Caroline , Just wondered if you have had any experience with a Springer Spaniel pulling on lead like a maniac ?? lol  To me I reckon his prey instinct is very high as he is on constant sniff about wherever he is . What would you suggest for him ? I have told the owner to order an Illusion Collar from Cesar to see if it helps him also !!

caroline replied: Hi Plenty! It is a really common problem for Springers in particular but also for other breeds. An Illusion collar may help, but the problem is usually that the dog is over excited, when a dog is over excited he is never going to learn much so calm the dog down first and then start training him to walk to heel and you should have much better results.
