Barney and I have been with eachother 24-7 for the past year, the longest I have left him for is two hours at a time. I haven't been very well lately and my parents keep on at me to go away on holiday and get some much needed sun. I not-happily have agreed to go away for three weeks in the new year, but I am wishing I had said no, it's too late as the holiday is booked and paid for. I have arranged for Barney to spend the three weeks with a lady who has three schnauzers of her own, I met her, and she seems nice. I have been leaving Barney with her a few days a week, then picking him up, trying to get him used to a new environment, it's so hard. I think after a few days Barney will adjust quite happily, with the help of the company of the ladys schnauzers, I think it will be me that will suffer from seperation anxiety!

It is that time of year again were family and lovedones are number one. A friend of my family lost her husband last week, 48years married. She was in an awful state, talking but not making much sence, just couldn't be consoled. Her daughter brought her to our house the other day, she was so frial and worn-out, not talking much and her face was blank, no expression. I brought Barney into the room, and he gently walked up to her, and nuzzled his nose under her hand, flicking it up until she stroked him. She did, and as she stroked him more and more, and he licked her hand, a faint smile appeared on her face. She chatted to him, telling him what had happened, and how she was feeling, and Barney just sat quietly and took in every word (so human). I find it amazing what effect animals can have on people. Barney was extra gentle, in a strange way knowing that she was grieving. He put a little spark into our friend, and comforted her a little. A dog's love 'priceless'

I was out cutting the lawn today. Barney my 6mth mini schnauzer ran after the lawnmower non stop, I had heard the phrase red rag to a bull, but never red tractor to a dog!
The rain came on and still he chased, eating the odd clump of grass the got spewed out along the way.
Before the lawn was cut barney was freshly clipped and was sparkling, 30 mins later he had a green beard, and green legs and feet!
He is totally cream crackered, my wee green monster snoring on the sofa beside me.
Cuttie Pie, he is soooooooooo sweet
